Visitors to London Concours; one of the events that have taken place this summer (image from London Concours gallery)
You might be under the impression that no events have taken place in the UK (excluding illegal street parties and raves) since event Armageddon struck in March.
But they have and recently.
Consumer events including;
- London Concours (took place 19-20 August)
- The Outdoor Motorhome & Camper Show also took place in August; 500 exhibitors and 5,000 visitors attending
- The same organiser (The Camping & Caravanning Club), have three more events scheduled for this year in different locations around the country.
Add to the above list numerous drive-in movie and concert events and you can see that outdoor events have been keeping busy.
All were able to go-ahead because they met strict social distancing and safety measures.
So what about the great indoors?
In Germany, trade shows restarted this month and I’ve just seen another consumer event (The Baby Show) announce it’s definitely going ahead inside Olympia in October.
Additionally; pilot B2B events have been held in secret locations this week.
The objective; to prove to government officials that business events can be conducted safely.
Feedback has been positive and currently, there are no barriers reported that will stop B2B events going ahead from 1st October onwards.
That’s good news for ExCeL London’s first trade event CCR, which takes place 1st-2nd October.
It’s also good news for any business that uses live events to build or make sales.
